Update the geoDVR Codecs
IMPORTANT: In some cases, there will be a new codecs package that will have to be updated BEFORE you update the geoDVR firmware.
1 – Download the new geoDVR codecs .exe sent to you by your Remote GeoSystems contact. Note: Often the codecs .exe will be included in the geoDVR_FirmwareUpgrade.zip file.
2 – Copy the codec .exe file to a removeable USB drive so that you can then temporarily copy it over to the geoDVR Windows desktop.
3 – Be sure you have exited the geoDVR interface and are on the geoDVR’s Windows desktop. Once copied to the geoDVR Windows desktop, double click the codes .exe file to launch it. Select Yes to allow the app to make changes to your device.
4 – Click Next to continue with the InstallShield Wizard for CODECS.
5 – Click Install to continue with the InstallShield Wizard for CODECS.
6 – Click Finish to complete the InstallShield Wizard for CODECS.
7 – Once the codecs are installed restart the geoDVR completely via Windows BEFORE installing the geoDVR firmware upgrade.
Update the geoDVR Firmware
In some cases, there will be a new codecs package that will have to be updated BEFORE you update the geoDVR firmware.
1 – Download the new geoDVR_FirmwareUpgrade.zip file sent to you by your Remote GeoSystems contact.
2 – Copy the geoDVR_FirmwareUpgrade.zip file to a Removeable USB Drive so that you can then temporarily copy it over to the geoDVR’s Windows desktop.
NOTE: You can do steps 1 & 2 at the same time you download the codecs package, but ALWAYS install the codecs first and restart the geoDVR via Windows BEFORE installing the geoDVR firmware update.
3 – Be sure you have exited the geoDVR interface and are on the geoDVR’s Windows desktop. Once copied to the geoDVR Windows desktop, right-click the .zip file and “extract” to a folder of the same name on the geoDVR’s Windows desktop.
4 – Once extracted locate the FirmwareUpdater.exe file.
IMPORTANT: You MUST right-click the FirmwareUpdater.exe file and “Run as administrator” in order for the update to work correctly.
5 – Once the FirmwareUpdater.exe launches, click the Upgrade Firmware button.
6 – After a few moments you should see the Upgrade Complete message box appear and then click OK.
7 – Once the geoDVR firmware update has been installed, restart the geoDVR completely.
8 – IMPORTANT: After updating the firmware it is a good best practice to clear out any older settings. To do this go to the File menu > Advanced Settings > reset to Factory Default.
9 – If the firmware update was successful, you may now delete the codec package .exe and zip file and unzipped folder from the desktop to prevent confusing other geoDVR users.
