Reporting Module Process Overview

The general process for using the Reporting Module is laid out in this document. See the links to other documents with more details on the associated processes.

Prepare the Videos in LineVision Desktop (When Applicable) #

Video Geotagging #

If videos are not already synchronized with a compatible GPS companion file, they will first need to be geotagged using LineVision Desktop so that they have map-based interactive playback capabilities.

Video-Based Reporting #

In order for the Video-based Reporting method to work correctly, the georeferenced videos must also display a dynamic “Camera Target Footprint” (CTF) location on the map, representing the GPS coordinates for the four corners of the video frame.  If your video camera platform does not natively log this CTF location data during recording, you might be able to estimate it after the flight.  For more details on using this capability, see the Estimate Camera Target Footprint on Map article.

NOTE:  While Camera Target Footprint location data can be helpful, it is NOT required for using the Map-based Reporting method.

Go to File > Open Video and select a video, or batch-select several videos at once. To learn more about opening a video, click here.

Adjust the Camera Target Footprint if necessary. To learn more about how a geoDVR collects Camera Target Footprint, click here. To learn more about estimating Camera Target Footprint, click here.

Save your work as a geoProject.

Upload to LineVision Online #

In LineVision Desktop, go to Online > Upload Current geoProject to upload the data to LineVision Online. Uploading can also be done in LineVision Online. To learn more about uploading via Desktop-based software, click here.

Build a Form for Reporting #

In LineVision Online, click the Reporting button in the top left corner and go to Form Builder > Create Form. To learn more about the Form Builder functionality, click here.

Create the Report #

Click Start Report. From here there are two available workflows: Build a report using a kml, or build a report using a geoProject.

Build a Report Using a kml or kmz #

Select the form you just created and the associated kml and click Begin Report. To learn more about creating a report using this workflow, click here.

Build a Report Using a geoProject #

If you are not using a kml to build the report, use the previously uploaded geoProject to build the report. To learn more about creating a report using this workflow, click here.

View the Report #

In LineVision Online, view the report by clicking the View Report button under the Reporting Module. To learn more about viewing a report, click here.

Update Form #

If the data doesn’t meet requirements or is missing something important, you can go back and update the form. Go to the Form Builder > Existing Forms, and make a clone of your existing form before you can edit it.

Share the Report #

To share the report with other members of your team that are also on LineVision Online, go to the View Report section and select the report you would like to share. On the right hand side you can select the Share button. Within the Share button you can choose to share with a User or a Group. If you choose to share with a group you should go to the Admin Module first and create a new group. To learn more about this process, click here.

Within the Share section you can choose to make the user or group a Viewer, Contributor, Moderator, or Administrator. To learn more about roles, click here.
