Overview #
LineVision software provides methods to view, create and update user-defined “waypoints” along a continuous video track. A waypoint usually represents a point of interest (POI) or anomaly identified along a video recording route, either by a camera operator in-mission (if using a geoDVR) or post-mission in the LineVision Desktop software. A waypoint can be a simple marker along a route with Lat/Lon and time or a more robust data object with associated still images from videos and/or high-resolution photos, files, notes and other data.
When reviewed in LineVision software, the waypoint can serve a number of purposes:
- Quickly identifying places within the video recording track needing further post-mission review.
- As a primary data object for instantly generating reports in Microsoft Word and Excel. For more information on this feature, see the document on Report Generation.
- As a primary data object for managing recurring infrastructure asset inspections and/or mission alerting when paired with the geoDVR Asset Management & Mission Alerting module.
- As a primary data object for exporting into other ubiquitous file formats such as GPX.
Waypoint Fields #
Name:
Enter the waypoint name.
ID:
This is an optional field used to give the waypoint an additional unique name. This can be a database unique ID or other alphanumeric value to uniquely identify the waypoint.
Waypoint Description:
Enter a description of the waypoint.
Issue:
Brief description of the issue identified.
Priority:
Allows the user to rank the importance of the issue based on user criteria. This is a free text field, as opposed to a dropdown.
Issue Location:
Enter a physical location of the identified issue; eg. “West Side”, “Base of Pylon”, “East of Right of Way”
Status:
Enter an optional status for the issue; eg. “Not Started” or “Repairs In Progress”
Asset Description:
Provide a specific asset description in addition to the Waypoint Description. If the waypoint was collected with the geoDVR, this field will automatically contain the description from the geoDVR Drill Down Waypoint Description Module. This can be changed post-mission in LineVision Desktop.
Notes
- Note History:
- Every time a note is added, a record of that note and any previous notes are kept in the Note History.
- Notes:
- When you click on a note in the Note History, add a new note using the Add New Note button, or edit an existing note using the Edit Selected button, the selected note will appear in the Notes box.
- Add New Note:
- Click this button to add a new note in the Notes box. Saved notes will appear in the Note History box.
- Edit Selected:
- Opens the note in the Notes box for editing.
- Delete Selected:
- Deletes the note from the Notes History and Notes boxes.
Images
Images can be added to waypoints in-mission or post-mission in LineVision Desktop. The path to the saved image on your computer appears in the Images box. Multiple images can be added to any one waypoint, and they can be added, edited, viewed, renamed, and removed using the respective buttons. NOTE: The changes will apply to the original image, so be sure to have a backup before applying changes.
Open Selected Document:
Documents can be added to waypoints in-mission or post-mission in LineVision Desktop. The path to the saved document on your computer appears in the Open Selected Document box. Multiple documents can be added to any one waypoint, and they can be added, viewed, and removed using the respective buttons. Selected documents can be edited or renamed.
Additional Features #
Add geoDVR Asset Information #
Check this box if the waypoint is created pre-mission. Doing so allows the geoDVR to automatically populate the associated asset fields with mission data during the data collection process.
Quick Add #
Select a geoDVR Drill Down Waypoint Description template by right clicking your video in the Media Browser and selecting Metadata Options > Set Drill Down Waypoint Description Template > and selecting the desired template.
When a new waypoint is created, or the Waypoint Viewer is opened for an existing waypoint, there will be a Quick Add button next to the Asset Description box. Clicking this button will allow you to add items from the selected geoDVR Drill Down Waypoint Description template to further categorize the issue captured in the waypoint.
Setting the Waypoint as a geoDVR Alert #
To flag a pre-mission waypoint as a geoDVR alert, select the “Is geoDVR Alert” checkbox when creating the waypoint in LineVision Desktop. This flags the location for the geoDVR during the mission, helping monitor evolving issues or checking the status of known concerns from prior missions. During the mission, there will be a popup on the geoDVR screen when the geoDVR is within a user-defined radius of the flagged waypoint.
Reference Coordinates – Platform vs Frame (Target) Center #
The Platform radio button represents the location of the camera on the vehicle doing the collecting (eg. helicopter, airplane, car, etc).
The Frame Target Center radio button represents the location on the ground (the “frame target center”) where the camera is pointing.
Users can toggle between the two radio buttons post-mission and the location of the waypoint will move accordingly. NOTE: The Frame Target Center option is only available if the camera provides the additional metadata required to calculate and display this location.
Search Radius #
This searches for photos within a user-specified radius from the waypoint. It would find additional geotagged photos in the map that the user could assess to be included in the waypoint images.
