Overview #

LineVision Desktop supports ArcGIS Online content in KML/KMZ format as well as ArcGIS Online hosted feature layers. LineVision Desktop can source content in two locations:

  1. Content listed in the “My Content” area of ArcGIS Online.
  2. Content from any ArcGIS Online groups the user is a member of.

How to Leverage ArcGIS Online Content in LineVision Desktop #

Creating/Managing a Group #

Login to your ArcGIS Online Account and navigate to Groups > My Groups.

Create a group or select a group that has previously been created.

If the group you will add the content to already exists, select it from the list. If it does not yet exist, click “Create group” in the upper left of the screenshot above to create the group you will use.
If you clicked “Create group”, select the desired options and click the “Save” button, as indicated in the two screenshots below.
Create a group if required and fill out the required fields.
Fill in who can be in the group, and then click save.
Next, you may either click “Invite members” or “Add items to group”.

Adding Items #

When you click “Add items to group” a window will appear. Click the “My content” button on the top left, followed by “My organization” on the drop down menu.

This will show a list of the organizational content that can be added to the group. Select the items you would like to add, then click “Add Items”. These items will be visible the next time the user opens the “Browse ArcGIS Online Items” window.

Adding in LineVision Desktop #

In LineVision Desktop, go to the Map Menu > Esri > Authenticate with Esri OAuth to sign into your ArcGIS account.

The following window will appear and you can login using the username and password from your ArcGIS Online account or using your ArcGIS organization’s URL.

After logging in, you can go to the Map Menu > Esri > Browse ArcGIS Online Items.

This will bring you to the ArcGIS Portal Browser where you can select from the items that were uploaded to your ArcGIS Online account.

This item will now appear in your Layer Control tab and can be viewed in the Map Viewer.
