Overview #
The LineVision Desktop – Ultimate and LineVision Google Earth Extension – Professional+ offer a convenient and rapid method for generating reports in Microsoft Word and Excel.
These reports provide a detailed mission summary that is ready to be delivered to your stakeholders and clients, including details such as a map of the route, waypoint photos, notes and annotations. These reports can be generated in just a few seconds and can save hours of valuable time spent compiling reports manually.
IMPORTANT: Microsoft Word 2007 / Excel 2007 or later must also be installed locally on your PC for this to work correctly. At this time, report generation for Microsoft 365 (online-only Word, Excel, etc.) is not supported.
Reports are generated automatically from items loaded in the LineVision Media Browser/Waypoint Browser and may include a summary of geotagged videos, waypoints created using the geoDVR or LineVision, photos from still image cameras, annotations and related map locations.

Report Settings #
To access the report settings panel go to the Advanced menu > Generate a Report > Report Settings.
Report Generation Settings Menu
Referencing the image above, users have the following options:
Include Map Location Images (Videos, Photos, Annotations, etc.)
Leave this option checked to include in the report a map image for each media item’s location in the Media Browser.
Include Location Images for Waypoints
Check this option to include in the report a map image for each waypoint’s location created using the geoDVR or LineVision.
Map Rendering Time
This option allows users to set the max rendering time it takes for the software to capture a map image of each item’s location.
PRO TIP: For slower PCs you may want to increase the milliseconds value.
Cache Map Locations Image
Leave this option checked to speed up report generation time in cases where users need to generate multiple reports for the same dataset in the Media/Waypoint Browsers.
Hide Report Generation
Check this option to hide the Word or Excel report from generating dynamically for the user to see. The Word or Excel report will still open when generation is completed.
PRO TIP: Check this option speed up the overall report generation process.
Show All Loaded Media in Location Image
Leave this option checked to include other media or map data within the area in the map image included in the report. For example, a user may have a KML file loaded to LineVision with powerline structure number labels right next to waypoints or photo locations. With this option checked the map image will show the waypoint or photo location as well as the powerline structure number label from the KML.
Related Report Settings #
Under the Map menu there are two settings also related to the Report Generation feature.
Show GPS Point Labels
Leave this item checked to show any GPS point, KML/Shapefile or other data labels on the map. With this item checked, the label(s) should appear in the map image that will be included in the report for a media item or waypoint location.
Set GPS Point Labels Font Size
Select this option set the font size for labels that will display on a the map.
PRO TIP: Use this option to increase the font size if the labels in the map images in the reports appear too small.
General Reporting Instructions #
Load the media items into LineVision you want to include in the report.
If desired, add additional text descriptions to the items, which will also be included in the report. To do this, right-click on the media item and select Add/Edit Notes or View Info & View/Edit Properties. Referencing the image below, add or modify text in Description box. When done click the Save Changes button.
When applicable, use the Waypoint Browser tab and follow the step above to add/modify descriptions for the Waypoint video image captures from a geoDVR.
Zoom and Pan on the Map Viewer to adjust the map extent to be what you would like to be displayed in the map summary portion of the report. You can also change the Base layer to a different type of base map if you like.
Once you are satisfied with the descriptions and items loaded, you are ready to generate the report. Click the Advanced menu > Generate Report and select the appropriate option.
You will be asked to enter some of the report details and select if you want a Microsoft Word, Excel report, or both. Microsoft Word/Excel will automatically open and the report will be generated. Depending on the amount of data loaded in LineVision it can take up to a minute or so for the report to finish generating.
You can then make adjustments to the report just like any other Microsoft Word/Excel document, include logos/headers, etc. Once you are satisfied with how the report looks, you can save the document in Microsoft Word, Excel and/or PDF file.

Generate a Standard Report #
For georeferenced video that was NOT captured with a Remote GeoSystems geoDVR video recorder, selecting Standard Report is usually the best option for including all items in the Media Browser in the report.
Waypoint/Annotation Spreadsheet Report #
Select this option to generate a spreadsheet report for the video with all waypoints and annotations in a traditional row/column format. This works for both video waypoints created post-mission in LineVision as well as video waypoints captured in-mission using a Remote GeoSystems geoDVR video recorder.
Generate a geoDVR Report #
For geotagged videos (and waypoint photos) captured from a Remote GeoSystems geoDVR video recorder, selecting geoDVR Data Report is usually the best option for including all items in the Media Browser AND Waypoint Browser in the report.
When selecting geoDVR Data Report, users can then choose whether to group relevant Waypoint video image captures from a geoDVR By Waypoints or By Video Channels (in the case of multiple video channels captured at the same time from the same geoDVR.)

Generate Spreadsheet Report
> Media Browser
When selecting this option while right-clicking on a video with associated waypoints, a spreadsheet report will be generated with all of the waypoints in a traditional row/column format.
When selecting this option while right-clicking on an annotation, users will have have the option to generate a spreadsheet report with just that single annotation or all annotations (if there are multiple annotations in the Media Browser) in a traditional row/column format.

When selecting this option while right-clicking on a waypoint, users will have have the option to generate a spreadsheet report with just that single waypoint or all waypoints (if there are multiple waypoints in the Waypoint Browser) in a traditional row/column format.
View/Edit Location Screenshot Reports
Select this option to review and/or edit the map image that will be included in the report for that media item or waypoint location.
Regenerate Location Screenshot Reports
Use this option to generate a new map image that will be included in the report for that media item or waypoint location.
PRO TIP: Use this option if the map image appears “fuzzy” or otherwise “less-than-ideal” after a report is generated.
