Upload to LineVision Online from Desktop Software – LEGACY

Overview #

There are two methods for uploading media and data to your LineVision Online account: through the LineVision Online web interface and through our desktop software options.  This article covers uploading media and geoProjects using Remote GeoSystems desktop software including LineVision Desktop, Video GeoTagger and Video GeoEditor.

In order for video to be streamed over the web it must first be transcoded to a web-streamable format which can tie up cloud computing resources.  For this reason we usually recommend using the LineVision Online Uploader built into Remote GeoSystems desktop-based software.  This way the processing happens at the desktop level thereby reducing your cloud computing costs.  Videos are also drastically reduced in size during the transcoding process, enabling quicker upload times and less bandwidth and storage usage versus pushing to LineVision Online for transcoding in the cloud.  Additionally, videos will be ready for viewing almost immediately upon successful upload verses waiting for them to transcode after uploading through the web interface.

Additionally, while you can create and add data to geoProjects directly in LineVision Online, if you create a geoProject in LineVision Desktop software you will also need to upload that geoProject from LineVision Desktop to keep all the data any modifications intact.
