Overview #
This menu item is intended for unique situations where a user might need to reorder or delete video channels within a segment(s) of multiple video sensors recorded at the same time. In most cases, these multi-channel video segments will have been recorded with a Remote GeoSystems multi-camera geoDVR geospatial video recorder.
Prerequisites #
- Previously geotagged video. Organize & Open Multi-channel Videos does not allow users to manually geotag upon video opening.
- GPX and MP4 files. If you open File Explorer on your computer and browse to the data file, the file format usually looks like the following screenshot. You should see a GPX file and one or more MP4 files that correspond with the one or more video channels collected during the mission.
NOTE: Always Ask for Companion File is not compatible with this feature. Ensure this box is unchecked by going to Options > Video Settings > Video Loading > Always Ask for GPS Companion File.
Using Organize & Open Multi-channel Videos #
Select the Videos #
To open the multi-channel video segment browser select File > Open Video > Organize & Open Multi-channel Videos…
Select a segment(s) of videos in the traditional Windows Explorer browser. Click Open.
Reorder & Remove #
Next the LineVision “Reorder & Remove” browser will appear, shown below. This step allows the user to choose which video is the primary video for each channel grouping, and remove any unnecessary videos for a cleaner user experience.
You will see that multiple video sensors recorded at the same time are now grouped by recording segment, indicated in the below example screenshot with the red box.
Channel Labeling #
The numbers 1-3 indicate that the channel is the primary, secondary, or tertiary video.
Channel Reordering #
Reorder the video channels using the up and down arrows next to the numbers (highlighted). Alternatively, drag and drop the thumbnails to reorder.
Channel Removing #
Click the “x” to remove any video from the selection (but not permanently delete from your computer).
When everything looks correct, click the Confirm button.

Add the Videos to the Media Browser #
Next, videos will load into the Media Browser of LineVision Desktop. If there is an issue with the GPS log file not matching video length, or if a video is not geotagged, you will see the following pop up:
You can choose to either load the video as it is, with the mismatch, or not load the video at all. It is best practice to ensure all videos are properly geotagged before using the Organize & Open Multi-channel Videos process.
Below, all videos are now loaded into LineVision Desktop. Videos with multiple channels will be represented by the primary channel’s thumbnail in the Media Browser, per the “Reorder & Remove” step above. Clicking on the thumbnail of a multi-channel video in the Media Browser will open additional Video Players alongside the main one.
