Open Video #
Open Single Video(s) #
Select this menu item to load a single georeferenced video to LineVision, or use the “shift” or “ctrl” keys to select multiple videos to load into the Media Browser at once. Videos do not have to be the same file type to be loaded simultaneously.
If your video has a GPS “companion file” and meets the following criteria, then your video automatically loads and zooms to the recorded location on the background map:
- The GPS companion file is properly synchronized with the video
- The GPS companion file and video is in the same folder
- The GPS companion file and video are named the same
If the video does not meet the above criteria, you will be prompted with additional options for loading and/or georeferencing your video.
Organize & Open Multi-channel Videos #
Select this menu item to load multiple videos recorded at the same time, from the same platform.
NOTE: This functionality will not work with the Always Ask for GPS Companion File option checked.
Open Video with Embedded GPS #
Select this menu item to open common video types with embedded GPS data.
Open MISB FMV / STANAG 4609 Spec Video #
Open Video encoded with MISB FMV/KLV 4609-spec Data.
NOTE: Also select this menu item to load a video recorded with a geoDVR featuring embedded “Whisper” GPS data. This is typically only used with older geoDVR systems recording the videos as .AVI files.
Open DJI Drone Video with Closed Captions #
Open DJI Video recorded with .SRT data in the closed captions of the video.
Open GoPro Video #
Select this menu item to load a GoPro camera video with embedded GPS data.
Open Video for Geotagging #
Browse your computer for a video to geotag. Next, choose the corresponding GPS file. Alternatively, leave the field blank to launch manual geotagging.
Open Photos #
Select this menu item to load one or more geotagged photos (.JPG files).
Open Audio #
Select this menu item to load a geotagged audio file.
NOTE: This is typically only used for data from our geoDSR audio recorders or geoDVR video recorders logging separate audio files.
Load GPS Track/Waypoints without Video #
Select this menu item to load GPS points or waypoints to the Media Browser without loading the video.
Open geoProject #
Select this menu item to open a previously saved local or compressed .geoProject file on your PC, local area network, or external drive.
Open Local or Uncompressed geoProject (.geoProject File) #
This option opens a previously saved .geoProject file on your local computer.
Extract & Open geoProject (.rgs File) #
Select this menu item to extract and open a previously saved compressed geoProject (.rgs file).
Remove All Media #
This option removes all videos, photos, audio, waypoints, etc. from the Media Browser.
NOTE: Please be aware that if you have not saved your geoProject, any changes you may have made will be lost.
Save #
Save Local geoProject* #
This option saves your current work as a Remote GeoSystems .geoProject file so that you can continue working on it later.
NOTE: This save function is best suited for a “work in progress” geoProject that is not yet ready to share with others, as it references the local “absolute” file paths to the loaded media and data.
Save Local geoProject As…* #
This menu item provides the same functionality as Save Local geoProject above but allows you to give your geoProject a new name.
Save New Portable Uncompressed geoProject* #
Select this menu item to save your work as an “uncompressed” .geoProject file which copies and packages all the media and data files into a folder for sharing with colleagues and clients.
Save New Portable Compressed geoProject (.rgs file)* #
Select this menu item to save your work as “compressed” .geoProject file which copies and packages all the media and data files into a “zipped” folder for sharing with colleagues and clients. These geoProject folders will have the .rgs file extension.
NOTE: Saving a compressed geoProject as a .rgs file can take a while, especially if your project has large video files. This format is not recommended for videos that are 10GB or larger.
* Saving geoProjects is not available in the LineVision Basic edition, however previously saved geoProjects can be opened in the Basic edition.
PRO TIP: Before saving a geoProject for the first time, name the geoProject in the “geoProject Name” bar in the Media Browser. If you do not add a name here, then when saving (File > Save As), the file name you enter will automatically become the name of the geoProject. If the name of the geoProject is later updated in the Media Browser, the file name will not automatically update. In order to update the file name to match the new geoProject name, you will need to go to File > Save As and save the geoProject with the new name.
Settings & Layout #
Set Default Media First Opening Directory #
Set the folder that opens automatically when you open a video. This folder location is saved for future sessions.
Save Current Settings & Layout as Default #
This menu option lets you save a custom layout of the panels and/or other settings and will load these same settings/layout the next time you launch LineVision.
Reset Settings & Layout to Factory Default #
Select this setting to restore the panel layout to the standard 3-panel layout, and all changed settings back to “factory default.”
Backup Settings & Layout #
Save your current layout and settings as a backup file.
Restore Settings & Layout File #
Load a saved backup file to restore a customized layout and settings. This is useful if you have customized the window layout and would like to export those settings as a file to share with someone else or to keep as a backup on your computer.
NOTE: Modules that are undocked (floating over the Map Viewer Window, for example) may not save in the backup file.
Export Waypoint Data #
Export all data from waypoints as a .csv.
Exit #
Selecting this menu item closes the LineVision software.
