The geoDVR has three primary methods to access and transfer your recorded data. #
- Removing the removable SSD and using the included SSD to USB adapter to copy the data to another computer (Recommended)
- Transferring data from the geoDVR SSD to a removable USB storage device
- Transferring the data over an Ethernet connection
Removing the SSD #
The recommended method for downloading your data is by removing the data SSD then using the included SDD to USB adapter cable to transfer the data to another PC.
- Be sure your geoDVR is shut down and powered OFF.
- Press the button at the bottom of the SSD cover near the lock and the door will open.
- Gently pull the Solid State Drive straight out. Be careful not to touch any exposed contacts.
- Connect the SATA end of the cable to the drive. It can only connect one way, so make sure it is aligned properly.
- Connect the USB end to a computer. USB 3 (Usually a blue port) provides the fastest data transfer rates.
- Windows will automatically mount the drive to a new drive letter, similar to an external HDD or USB drive
- Use Windows Explorer to copy the desired data from the drive to your computer. The files can be large so be sure you have plenty of space available.
- When finished, disconnect the USB first then disconnect the SATA end.
- Re-insert the SSD into the geoDVR. Be sure the correct side is facing up. It does not take much force for it to connect properly; please see the disclaimer.

Transferring Via USB #
You can also transfer the data using a USB drive. USB thumb drives and external hard drives will both work. Video files can be quite large so make sure you using a high-capacity USB drive; for this reason a portable hard drive is recommended.
- Connect a keyboard, mouse, and monitor to the geoDVR.
- If not already running, start the geoDVR. Once the geoDVR interface has completed initializing, select the File menu > Exit geoDVR Screen.
- Connect your USB drive. It is recommended you connect to a blue USB 3 port for fastest data transfer rates.
- Go to your start menu and open Windows Explorer. Browse to your D: to see the recorded data. They are arranged in folders by date.
- Copy the desired data to your external/USB drive.
- When finished, shut down the geoDVR using the Windows Start Menu > Shutdown.
Transferring Over Ethernet #
The geoDVR provides the ability to have its data transferred over Ethernet. You will need an ethernet patch cable to perform the transfer.
First, you must configure the PC you are using to be able to talk to the geoDVR – you may need Admin rights to perform these steps:
- On your PC, open the Control Panel
- Open the Network and Sharing Center
- Click ‘Change Adapter settings’ on the left-hand side of the screen
- Right click on your ethernet adapter and click Properties.
- Search for an item named Internet Protocol Version 4 and select it, then click Properties.
- Change the radio option from “Obtain an IP address automatically” to “Use the following IP address”
- Enter 192.168.0.20 as the IP address, 255.255.255.0 as the subnet mask. You do not need to set a gateway or DNS address.
- Connect an ethernet cable from your PC to the first port on the geoDVR unit. Open Windows Explorer and enter the following in the address bar: 192.168.0.10DDri
- If you are prompted for a username / password, the username is “remotegeo” and the password is “remotegeo”
- You can now copy data from the geoDVR to your local PC.
- Once you are finished, you will want to go back to steps 1-6 except change everything back to Obtain an IP Address Automatically, if you wish to use your PC’s ethernet port with other networks.
