In order for the geoDVR to utilize the GPS data coming from a Gyro-stabilized Systems (GSS) gimbal, the settings in the geoDVR user interface must be aligned with those in the Windows TCP/IPv4 Properties panel on the geoDVR unit.
geoDVR Interface Settings #
The default IP address and port settings are usually configured on the geoDVR before shipping, but may need to be changed depending on specific GSS gimbal camera deployments. Referencing the image below, you can see the current GSS gimbal GPS settings in the geoDVR interface by going to Options > Use GSS Gimbal Camera GPS.
Below are the default settings on the geoDVR for most GSS gimbal camera deployments.
GSS Gimbal IP Address – typically 10.35.200.59 / GSS Gimbal Protocol Port – typically 18295
NOTE: The “GSS Gimbal IP Address” field is the gimbal IP address seen in the web browser when connected to the GSS gimbal. The port number for this IP address is also provided by GSS. It is typically 18295, but you will need to verify this with GSS Support for your specific gimbal.
Local NIC IP Address (the geoDVR network interface card) – typically 10.35.200.77 / Local NIC Port – typically 18294
NOTE: The “Local NIC IP Address” field is the geoDVR’s IP address. This IP address must be the IP address assigned to the local geoDVR Ethernet card (NIC) that the GSS gimbal is connected to (via the network cable sending the GPS data).
Multicast Group Address – typically 255.0.0.1
Microsoft Windows TCP/IPv4 Properties Settings #
Referencing the image below, you can see the current IP address settings in the Windows TCP/IPv4 Properties window, found under the “Network and Internet Settings” screen in Windows Settings.
As mentioned previously, the “Local NIC IP Address” in the geoDVR interface MUST be the same as the IP address statically set via the TCP/IPv4 Properties window above.
The Default gateway is optional, and can be set to 10.35.200.1 if desired.
If you need to make changes, please verify the values with GSS Support to ensure it matches the gimbal camera.
