Data Not Recording to Removable Drive

IMPORTANT:  The geoDVR’s removable SSD hard drives are specifically formatted by Remote GeoSystems for use with the geoDVR.  Attempting to use hard drives that are not sourced or formatted by Remote GeoSystems may cause issues recording data and will not be supported.  Additionally, we do not recommend attempting to reformat the hard drives.

If you find data is not recording to the geoDVR’s removeable hard drive, it could be that upon booting the geoDVR, the Windows operating system is reassigning drive letters to the geoDVR’s removeable hard drive.  This can happen when multiple devices (such as those with USB connections or the removable SSDs) are commonly connected/disconnected to the geoDVR.

Referencing the image below, by default the geoDVRs are configured to record data to the D drive.  To access this configuration window go to File menu > Set Recording Output Location.

Open Windows File Explorer and verify that Windows has assigned the removable hard drive (named geoDVR_Files) to drive D.

If this is not the case you may have a couple options.

You can open the configuration window in the geoDVR and set the recording output location to match the drive letter the Windows operating systems has assigned.

You may also try disconnecting any non-critical devices and rebooting the geoDVR to see if Windows will correctly assign the geoDVR_Files removable hard drive to drive D.
