In order for the specific audio cables to work with the Windows-based tablets used by observers, it may be necessary to adjust and save default audio settings in the Windows OS.
Follow these steps for Windows 11:
Right-click on the Speaker icon in the lower left of the Windows Desktop.
Click on “Sound Settings” and scroll all the way down to the bottom and click on “More Sound Settings”.
This will open a window called “Sound”. Click on the “Recording” tab at the top to set the mic. As you talk into your headset mic, whichever green bars are going up and down is the input you need to set.
This should be the same name as the checked audio input under “Options” > “geoDSR Audio Input”
If you double click the “Microphone” information (in the red box two screenshots above), that will open “Microphone Properties”.
You can amplify and change the levels with the “Custom” and “Levels” tabs. Under the “Advanced” tab, the “Default Format” is 1 channel, and both boxes under “Exclusive Mode” should be checked:
These settings should be the very similar for tablets as well as computers, as long as they’re running Windows 11.
